Rules for Role Play
1. Register with your CHARACTER’S name. Please do not include their middle name or initial.
2. Respect all authoritative figures. A staff member is still a part of the staff, regardless what opinion you hold about them. If you encounter a problem with a staff member, PM an ADMINISTRATOR ASAP and proper action will be taken.
3. Suggestion boards are encouraged (under OOC chat) but if we find that somebody is making a board to “bash” a staff member, a warning will ensue. If that same person continues to make abusive boards concerning staff members – or anyone for that matter – banning may be the only solution unless a reasonable argument is given.
4. Literacy is required, above and beyond. Novel sized posts and writing that could rival William Faulkner’s however, is not. Everybody has their own style of writing and methods of doing so, but proper grammar and spelling should not be forgotten.
5. If we find posts that we deem illiterate, it will be locked and a brief message will remain stating the reasons why it was locked. If we CONTINUALLY find posts that we deem illiterate, a warning will be sent. If the person still posts illiterate posts, we will either ask you to find a method to improve or you will be banned. Writers block of course happens, and if you have any confusion (or want help) of what our definition of “literate” is (etc), feel free to make a new board on the rules board or PM a staff member.
6. Romance is part of life. It’s been scientifically proven, in fact. Love is a chemical reaction. The fact that many ages of the characters on this site are going to be a time in a person’s life when hormones are certainly a’ragin. However, like you would in real life – please don’t jump every member of the opposite (or same) sex you encounter. In the role playing world, we call people who are desperate for sexual attention “despies”. The code word for your application is Germany. Nobody likes them, nobody likes them in excess especially, and we’re sure not everybody wants to see them. To make end a long rule before it turns into a ramble: no despies. If you have any confusion about our definition of “despie” please PM a staff member or make a new thread on the rules board.
7. Don’t start fights with other members. Sure, there’s always going to be a person that you’re not going to get along with. But this is a site to have fun, not to get into internet squabbles.
8. The pre-made character layouts are not completely set in stone. If you would like to play a pre-made character, but you want to change something feel free to contact a staff member and request a change.
9. You may not play an existing person. We’re sure Joel Madden would love to attend a boarding school, but not this. This is simply to keep the fictional element of the site. Plus – lawsuits are never fun.
10. Please fill out your member profiles completely. It is very important that you do this so we have your information such as age, location (time zone purposes), and your contacts. [the password to get into any character subboard is ichbinein] If you don’t feel comfortable doing so, send a staff member a PM with one contact in case you need to be contacted in case of an emergency.
11. You may only role play with one character per account. If you wish to play more then one character you must have more then one account; one account for each of your characters. Please do not make an excess number of accounts if you aren't going to be active on all of them.
12. All members are required to have their character's picture as their icon and/or signature. Your icon MAY NOT be of the same person as someone else. If we see this, your icon will be erased. Taken icons will be posted in a topic on the site. You can check there if you aren't sure if the person you want to use is taken. There will also a thread with stock pictures if you wish to choose an icon from there. If you need further help finding an icon, PM an admin. As for using celebrities, the celebrity must approved by a staff member first.
13. All special events that are NOT hosted by a staff moderator must FIRST be approved by a staff member.
14. Images in signatures may not exceed 500x250
15. Your character may NOT be famous unless you have gotten specific approval from a staff member first.
16. Your character's physical appearance may not change (dramatically) unless you change your icon or signature to a new picture of the previous person.
17. Please do not harass members or put them in a position to make them feel uncomfortable (intentionally) if we find this to be happening you WILL be banned. If somebody is harassing you, or making you feel uncomfortable with or without intent please message a staff member ASAP and proper action will be taken.
18. If you have more then one character, two of your characters may not be romantically or sexually involved.
19. The rules are subject to change when necessary.
20. Remember to post under the signature claim, and room mate draw AFTER you've been accepted.
